IRRIGATIONNZ ‘WATER FOR LIFE’ 2020 CONFERENCE CANCELLED

It is with great disappointment that we have decided to officially cancel our 2020 Water for Life Conference.

Our thoughts go out to all those who have been affected by the COVID-19 situation, it is a very unsettling time for all.

While we may hold a similar event later this year or early next year, due to the current uncertainties in the operating environment we feel the best option is to cancel and start afresh when we can. We thank you for the support you have shown our organisation and hope to see you at another of our events in the future.

Information on how to request a refund will be emailed to all delegates on Monday 6thApril.  Thank you for your patience as we have worked through this process.

Stay safe and stay healthy.

A Keynote All the Way from Kansas

Monty Teeter, developer and CEO of Dragon-Line, will speak on the Wednesday of the Conference as well as having a stand in the Expo showcasing his Dragon Line precision mobile drip irrigation.

Making Every Drop of Water Count | Monty Teeter, Teeter Irrigation: Developer & CEO of Dragon-Line Mobile Drip Irrigation

Monty started in the Irrigation Industry in 1972 and started his own business in 1977.

He has been a distributor, designer, and installer of centre pivots for 40 plus years, and has had experience in SDI (Sub-Surface Drip Irrigation) for 20 plus years. The experience of selling more than 3,500 pivots and thousands of acres of SDI has allowed Monty to become proficient in understanding the technologies and benefits of both irrigation applications.

Monty started developing Dragon-Line nine years ago. For many years, countless individuals watched the depletion of the Ogallala Aquifer.  What once was a vast supply of water in many areas became less sufficient and even non-existent. Monty is no stranger to these depleting conditions and has spent countless hours working on ways to conserve and efficiently use this natural resource.   He has pioneered the installing of the first spray nozzles and drops in the area, developed Ultra-Drop, a UV rated PVC drop, See-Level gearbox lubricators, and was the first to install SDI in his area.   Moreover, developing equipment to install polymers into the soil to reduce compaction, and installing the newest innovative ideas to deliver water.

With the passion and pioneering spirit listed above, Monty felt it was very important to begin combining his knowledge of both pivots and SDI. He worked very diligently to get farmers to try this product, however, no one wanted to experiment because of the risk of crop failure and lack of proven statistics.   Monty then proceeded to purchase a farm of 320 acres with a 200 GPM well that included two pivots, and this began his quest to develop “Dragon-Line”.

With hands-on practice of utilising irrigation technology on his farm, combined with the technical knowledge of what needs to be done, Monty offers a well-rounded and thought out approach to the debate on water. Monty will take us through the importance of this precious resource and why every drop truly does count.

The session will be opened by New Zealand MP and New Zealand First Spokesperson for Agriculture and Primary industries, Mark Patterson (https://www.parliament.nz/en/mps-and-electorates/members-of-parliament/patterson-mark/).
